2011 Conference and Workshop

The Institute for Briquetting and Agglomeration (IBA) announces it's 32nd Biennial Technical Conference to be held in New Orleans, LA September 25th to 28th 2011.   For over 50 years, IBA has sponsored this premier conference on state-of-the-art agglomeration technology. The Papers presented will include details of actual operations, as well as theoretical approaches to agglomeration. This years confercnce will be preceded by a half-day hands-on workshop, "Introduction to Briquetting and Other Agglomeration Processes". This is an excellent opportunity for newcomers, as well as a refresher course for those pursuing knowledge on the current methods of agglomeration. This is the conference that will enable you to interact with the delagates and to discuss specific issues with the industry experts on a one-to-one basis.

The Conference will be held at the Loews Hotel which is located within three blocks of the world famous French Quarter. Casino gambling is directly across the street from the hotel and the arts district is nearby too.

A limited number of student discounts are available.  Please contact the IBA for additional information and qualification criteria.

2011 Call for Papers

The forthcoming 2011 IBA conference seeks presentations on the subject of size enlargement, such as pelletizing, granulation, briquetting, compacting, tableting and extrusion, which describe significant aspects of:

  • Research Fundamentals
  • Binders and Coatings
  • Equipment and Processes
  • Practical Applications
  • Environmental Benefits

Research fundamentals include powder characterization, models for agglomeration mechanisms, analytical process control, and new agglomeration methods. Binders include new or natural synthetic binders, binder performance tests, as well as binders for specific products, such as fertilizers. Attracting significant interest in equipment design enhancements and process control, including monitoring methods and innovative agglomeration techniques. The conference is planning to include sessions focused on specific commercial and industrial applications. The industries are, but not limited to, chemical, food, minerals, pharmaceutical and new or novel activities that have become part of this wide world of size enlargement. Environmental issues cross all industries and they are of extreme interest to the membership. Please consider presenting a paper at the 32nd biennial technical conference of the IBA.

The 2011 Conference will be held September 25th through the 28th at Loews Hotel in New Orleans, LA. See below for a printable "Call for Papers".
